A cool performance

My highlights are now like buses…nothing for weeks and then 2 come along! You could be thinking that I’m all about food and drink as looking back at the last 3 posts there is clearly an emerging theme. As it is Summer we tend to veer towards the sunnier side of life which in some cases does involve a refreshing cocktail or crisp cold glass of Mallorcan wine…of course cocktails do come without alcohol…who would have thought 😊

So not wishing to become a food and drink bore here is something a little different. I thought I would talk about the event on Sunday evening that was held at Sala61 in Pollenca. Now let’s get the declaration out of the the way…if you don’t already know, Sala61 is part of our home and our attempt to create a new cultural space in Pollenca that features local and international artists. Last night we had an hour of beautiful piano and cello thanks to Magí Garcías and Zuzanna Sosnowska.

On a very hot Sunday evening the air conditioning of Sala61 was very welcome as we were treated to a stunning performance that included Britten, Schumann and Falla. At the hands of Magi and Zuzanna, they had our small audience of 35 totally captivated.

This was our fifth event which so far has included the Happy Cats Jazz trio who visit us from Palma, the Martos and Nedeltcheva Duo and William Bracken who is one of the UKs most exciting classical pianists emerging onto the global stage. In a couple of weeks time we have Maria De Lluc another Mallorcan pianist.

We hope that we are bringing a rare opportunity to see these really talented musicians in what we call an Up Close with the Artist experience. It is a relaxed atmosphere where there is an opportunity to interact with the performers and really feel their playing. We have had some great reviews on Trip Advisor and we now feature in their top 10 things to do in Pollença.

Did I mention we always serve fabulous wines (and soft drinks) throughout the events…I just couldn’t help myself mentioning something to do with wine! Last night we had wine from local family owned ecological producer Can Gelat a lovely Giro Ros and a lightly sparkling Rosat Cava from Mas Xarot which on a very warm summers night is just what you need.

We hope to see you soon for another world class event…and wine 😊
